OBITUARY : Mister Benoît ATANGANA ONANA, Founder-Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Cameroon

The Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants
of Cameroon (ONECCA) is deeply saddened to announce the death of Mr.
Benoît ATANGANA ONANA, Founding Member of ONECCA, promoter of the
"ONECCA-INTEC" Training Centre which participates in the training of
future Chartered Accountants, Past-President of the Council of the
Institute (2001 to 2007), former Member of the Advisory Council of the
International Accounting Standard Board (IASB) and Senior Partner and
General Manager of the Accounting Firm, “African Consulting Entreprise
(ACE)”.
He died in Paris on 27 January 2023 after a long illness.
Mr. Benoît ATANGANA ONANA was an eminent professional figure. He
devoted his entire life to contributing to the development of the public
accounting profession in Cameroon and in the world. He was a tireless
guardian of the deontological and ethical values of the profession :
integrity, objectivity, professional competence and professional care,
confidentiality and professional behaviour. He advocated, embodied and
disseminated for about thirty years, these values which are the very
foundation of the identity of the Chartered Accountant.
Our sincere condolences to his biological family, professional colleagues,
collaborators, and friends.
The funeral program will be communicated later.
William F. NGWA
President of the Council
